Who is cupid? A chubby, winged baby that goes around shooting people with arrows? While this image doesn't conjure immediate images of romance, Cupid has been in the business for eons and is the bona fide poster child for love.

Cupid hit me hard. It's been a year and I'm more in love than ever. My first Faraway Pillow post was on Valentine's Day 2010 and my passion for writing and for travel has only intensified in the past 365 days. I'm infatuated, I'm starry eyed, and feel like a teenage girl (only with a slightly larger bank account and fewer pimples).

Not only did Cupid turn my gaze to writing and travel but towards my husband, whom I dedicate this and every other post to. We've spent fourteen years together, have explored countless countries and our list of places to visit keeps growing. Travel without my very best travel partner would merely be a means of getting from point A to point B. Seeing a new place with him becomes an unforgettable adventure. Food tastes better, sights are more meaningful, and the seven seas seem more manageable... with him.

As a hopeless romantic I celebrate this Valentine's Day, and my first blogoversary, with a big fat, sloppy, kiss to my husband and with tremendous thanks to everyone else that has supported me in this idea that has taken root and won't let go.

Travel and Love Forever. XOXO!
